Juror notes: Incredible handling of difficult stage lighting and darker skin tones. The reflection behind the bass keys got me! This work shows keen observation skills and showcases the talent and “magic” it takes to be a blues musician. Hands are difficult, and the artist captured the hands, the wedding band, and his cool watch. All of these subtle details make this figure a real and interesting subject, and the use of purple with background lights is brilliant.
